Zarubezhneft, Deme to build 1 GW sea windmill farm in Vietnam

MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Zarubezhneft and two subsidiaries of Belgium’s Deme that specialize in sea construction works plan to build a 1 gigawatt (GW) sea windmill farm in Vietnam, Zarubezhneft Deputy CEO Oleg Akimov said in an interview to Energeticheskaya Politika (Energy Policy) magazine published on Thursday.

“Currently, Zarubezhneft and joint venture Vietsovpetro together with DEME Offshore BE NV and DEME Concessions Wind NV plan a joint project to construct an offshore windmill farm VinhPhong in Vietnam with a capacity of 1 GW and strategic partnership in maritime wind power production,” he said.

Zarubezhneft will use its experience of participation in the Vietnamese offshore projects, while Vietsovpetro have the necessary production capacities, he said.

He also said that Vietsovpetro’s 2021 oil and condensate production plan stands at 2.87 million tonnes, which the company plans to augment by 150,000 tonnes. The natural gas production plan for the Dragon field was approved at 76.6 million cubic meters for this year, he said.
